Art in Ireland
The human face is familiar. We find commonality in the skin-covered skull decorated with a nose, mouth, and eyes. These features bind us as humans. I have always found portraiture alluring. The thrill of attempting to capture the true likeness of someone in a painting can be consuming for both the artist and the subject.

Bosca Ceoil
This collection of portraits created at the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan portrays people I have met throughout my three-week stay in Ireland. The largest oil on canvas, Bosca Ceoil, is a painting inspired by a man playing the accordion at the Cliffs of Moher in Liscannor Village. I asked if I could take his picture, and he smiled and simply responded, “It’s part of the job.”
